The review of DELI MAN (2014) is short because I have to go find an open deli and get a sandwich New York Jewish Film Festival 2015

That's Ziggy on the right
The year has just started and already this is one of my favorite films of 2015.

This is food porn for anyone who loves deli.

Nominally the story of Ziggy Gruber  an old school deli man from New York who opened Kenny and Ziggy's in Houston, the film is really the story of delicatessens and Kosher delis in particular. The film follows Ziggy as he runs his deli while also talking  to other deli owners across the country. Its a film about history, traditions and food.....lots and lots of food.

Ten minutes in I was wondering when I was going to be able to get to Katz's or Ben's or one of the other Jewish deli's in New York.

I don't know what to say but this is good food, good talk and good company. This is a big warm hug for anyone who  loves the good food and good conversation. Its like going to a family dinner but without the cranky crazy relatives.

I love this film

Go see it.

I can't say more than that because I need to go get a sandwich.

The film plays two times on the 15th go see it and be prepared to be racing for the nearest deli when its done.
