The Korean Cultural Service counter programs to the NYAFF

Even with the New York Asian Film Festival in full swing the Korean Cultural Service continues their bi-weekly screenings Tuesday with the start of a summer of thrillers.

First up one of the best films of 2009 Mother. This is the story of a woman who find her son is implicated in a murder and her struggle to free him...but there are complications. It's one of the most disturbing films you'll ever see. It's a masterpiece that isn't over until the final credits end (so don't leave).

If you've never seen it you really owe it to yourself to do so.

My review of the film as part of a series called the Best Performances You May Never See ran last March and can be found here.

Seriously this is one of the best films of the last five years and you should go see it.

I'll be posting more on the remaining films in a couple of days once I get a breather from the NYAFF. For now all you need know is if you aren't going to the Asian FIlm Festival Mother is screening FOR FREE at the Tribeca Cinemas Tuesday at 7PM.
