TIME IS ILLMATIC Opened Tribeca Film Festival at The Beacon Theater

Here are some photos from last week's Red Carpet event at The Beacon Theater for the opening film of The Tribeca Film Festival 2014, TIME IS ILLMATIC. The musical documentary focuses on the Queensbridge rapper and his classic debut album, ILLMATIC which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It was an exciting night and I was thrilled to see so many hip hop artists coming through to check out the film including Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan, Fab 5 Freddy, founding member of The Juice Crew-Roxanne Shante, DJ and producer Pete Rock and founder of Video Music Box, VJ Ralph McDaniels.

Photographers were shocked when Robert De Niro walked on the red carpet and actually took his time rather than his usual run past the cameras. It was funny watching Raekwon have a fanboy moment after noticing and pointing out Mr. De Niro, one of his favorite actors.

Nas made his appearance and apparently was not in a smiley mood.  He did appear more relaxed posing with the director of the film One9, his brother Jungle and producer Erik Parker.  I can't wait to see the documentary.  It screens one more time this week on 4/25 at 4:00 PM at AMC Loews Village 7.  See you there at the Rush Line!

  1. Wanted to see that photo of Fab 5 Freddy doing the running man to get out of Robert Deniro's way with his walk through the red carpet!
